Thrive Global Consulting partners with the Skills Vocational Training Center to teach young adults income generating skills such as mushroom cultivation, food service, housekeeping, electrical maintenance, and construction. The vocational center benefits young people from rural areas that travel to the city. During a two-year residential program, the center teaches skills that would be useful for income generation whether students choose to stay in the city or return to their villages. The school also teaches “soft” skills that are important to livelihoods, like work ethic, integrity, and relational/social competency. At graduation, the center helps to place students in jobs if they desire to remain in the city.
The students at the vocational center pay only a fraction of the true cost of their education and room and board. Thrive Global Consulting is seeking to help provide scholarships for ten students in 2016.
